Emily Sonnett is one among the most talented players in the United States women’s national soccer league. She was a two-time First-Team All-American, and the Most Outstanding Defender Player at the 2014 NCAA Championships. She won the ACC Defensive Play of the Year in 2015. She was also awarded the ESPNW Soccer Player-of-the Year award. After graduating from UVA, she entered the NWSL draft. In the semifinals of 2016's NWSL Championship, she scored her first pro goal against Western New York Flash. She eventually earned her first senior-level cap in the U.S.A and was an alternate at Rio Olympics.
